Lewisham residents and the Save Lewisham Hospital campaign were again let down by the Liberal Democrats in the House of Lords on Monday when every single one of the 64 Lib Dem peers voting supported the Conservatives.
This was to bring about a major policy change in the reconfiguration of NHS services and to make it easier for the Government to impose changes on successful NHS hospitals.
I have no doubt the Government have done this because they are running scared of the campaign mounted here in Lewisham and they want the powers to ignore local people and brush them aside.
It is shameful that it is thanks to the Liberal Democrats the Government got its way.
